Bruce Melodie, born Itahiwacu Bruce, is a Rwandan singer, songwriter, music executive, and entrepreneur whose work has contributed significantly to the growth of contemporary Rwandan popular music. Born in Kanombe, Kicukiro District, Kigali, he developed his musical foundation in church choirs before pursuing a professional career. He attended Camp Kanombe Primary School and later Rwamagana Islamic Secondary School.
Bruce Melodie launched his recording career in 2011 and gained national recognition with the release of "Tubivemo" in 2013. The single introduced his debut album, "Ndumiwe," followed by "Ntundize" in 2014. His consistent releases and stage performances established him among Rwanda's leading recording artists. In 2018, he won the eighth edition of Primus Guma Guma Super Star (PGGSS), a milestone that expanded his audience across East Africa. He later became the first Rwandan artist to perform at Coke Studio Africa, strengthening his regional profile.
His repertoire spans Afropop, R&B, Afrobeat, jazz, and Afro-fusion, with recordings primarily in Kinyarwanda alongside English and Swahili. Bruce Melodie has collaborated with artists including Shaggy, Joeboy, Harmonize, Bien-Aimé Baraza, Khaligraph Jones, Sheebah Karungi, Pallaso, B2C, Fik Fameica, and Blaq Diamond, reflecting his growing presence within the African music industry. His catalogue includes successful singles such as "Katerina," "Bado," "SOWE," "Iyo Foto," "When She's Around," "Beauty On Fire," and "Niki Minaji." His third studio album, "Colorful Generation," was released in 2025.
Beyond performance, Bruce Melodie founded Igitangaza Music and has worked under management partnerships including Cloud9 Entertainment and 1:55 AM Entertainment. His career also includes endorsement agreements with major brands and ambassadorial roles. Over the years, he has received numerous honors, including multiple Salax Awards, The Choice Awards, Trace Awards recognition, and the PGGSS title. Through sustained commercial success, regional collaborations, and investment in Rwanda's music industry, Bruce Melodie has become one of the country's most influential contemporary recording artists.
